Oleh Bilorus, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Taras Chornovil, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, and Leonid Kozhara, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, represented the Ukrainian Party. Olav Berstad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, Stefan Gullgren, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine, Christer Michelsson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Ukraine and Michael Borg-Hansen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine, attended the meeting.
The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs informed the foreign guests and diplomatic corps on the current political events in Ukraine, positively assessing the relations between Ukraine and Scandinavian countries. He expects that the parliamentary connections will facilitate development of the mutually profitable cooperation on the political, economic and social levels.
Torben Vindelov, Vice President of the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), dwelled on the perspectives of cooperation, drawing attention to the fact that the company dealt with the projects "that improve environmental conditions and remain efficient from the economic point of view." Furthermore, the corporation works in the programs dealing with the environmental protection. "Currently, NEFCO operates in the territories of Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, participating in the projects in Belarus", the Vice President of the corporation explained.
The Parties discussed the agreement signed by the corporation NEFCO and Ukraine aimed at the formation of a legal framework to enable the activity of the environment organization in Ukraine.
